Mokena… State Representative Renée Kosel (R-New Lenox) is once again helping to protect residents from skyrocketing water rates, after Illinois American Water filed a nearly 30% rate increase with the Illinois Commerce Commission in May. The for-profit water company serves approximately 37,700 customers in several west and southwest suburban Chicago communities including Homer Glen, Mokena, Orland Hills and Tinley Park.

“I will continue to stand up for Illinois American Water customers so that they can have a voice. Illinois American Water has earned a reputation for taking advantage of their customers through overcharging. In today’s struggling economy, the people in my district simply cannot afford to pay 30% more for their water, especially when their rates already far exceed what surrounding communities are paying,” Rep.
